TITLE: The Conquest of Bread

AUTHOR: Peter Kropotkin

What's it about: The necessity of anarchism in a communist society and vice versa. Kropotkin points out what he considers to be the fallacies of the economic systems of feudalism and capitalism, and how he believes they create poverty and scarcity while promoting privilege. He goes on to propose a more decentralised economic system based on mutual aid and voluntary cooperation, asserting that the tendencies for this kind of organisation already exist, both in evolution and in human society. I suggest you order this from your local library (from a larger one, you can do that).

Additional Information: I suggest you order it from a different library into yours, it would only be in a large library.

TITLE: Minimanual of the Urban Guerrilla

AUTHOR: Carlos Marighella

What's it about: The classic pamphlet. A how-to guide, tried and tested by countless groups across the world. An important document for anyone vaguely inquisitive, or seriously interested. Written by the Brazilian as a reaction to the failure of Guevara and the rural guerrillas. "It is better to err acting than to do nothing for fear of erring. Without initiative there is no guerilla warfare."

Additional Information: Steal it, buy it on a non-government website / non-chain store or read it online. Careful now. ha

TITLE: Art And Science Of Billboard Improvement

AUTHOR: Billboard Liberation Front

What it's about: It's a how-to pamphlet on guerrilla artwork, and how to truly improve the disgusting billboards around you.

Additional Information: Buy it (it's a cheap pamphlet) or read it online: http://www.billboardliberation.com/guidebook.html#Anchor-55640 -- you can't take it with you, though.

TITLE: Anarchism: What it really stands for

AUTHOR: Emma Goldman

What it's about: This essay argues that anarchism "stands for the liberation of the human mind from the dominion of organized religion; the liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from the shackles and restraint of government. Anarchism stands for a social order based on the free grouping of individuals for the purpose of producing real social wealth; an order that will guarantee to every human being free access to the earth and full enjoyment of the necessities of life, according to individual desires, tastes, and inclinations."

Additional Information: Safe enough to order into your library, cheap enough (it's an essay) to buy -- it may be small enough to read online.

TITLE: Libertarian Communism

AUTHOR: Isaac Puente

What it's about. Libertarian Communism.. "Libertarian communism is not a blueprint for a future society. It is, rather, a set of principles to be applied by the working class, and all others who are prepared to work alongside them, for taking over and running the economic base of society so as to refashion it in accordance with social justice. While it is collective in spirit and method, libertarian communism gives the fullest possible scope to individual needs and aspirations. It is no utopian scheme, though it is the means by which to reach the beauty of anarchy."

Additional information: Buy it from AK Press? I have yet to read this book. Isaac Peunte was part of the CNT in Spain and he was one of the revolutionaries who was jailed and tortured.

There's so much more, obviously.. Those are just the last I read. =p

TITLE: Brave New World
AUTHOR: Aldous Huxley

What it's about: Brave New World is a book about a dystopian society, in which everyone is drugged to the point of nonsense and sex becomes meaningless. In the book, when anybody feels stressed or feels anxiety, they just pop a pill: problem solved! (or that's what they say) As for sex, it no longer serves its procreation purpose anymore. It's just for the aspect of pleasure. Everybody has sex with everyone: you may have one partner one day, the next day you wake up with some person you met the other day, and it's all OK! Babies are made in test tubes, just for the curious. Anyway, the book focuses mainly on Bernard Marx and Lenina Crowne, the two main characters. Throughout the book, they learn and experience many new things about their unsuspected oppressive government. They at first had no idea anything was wrong.

Additional Information: It's a pretty good book, but does get slow during the Savage chapters of the book. You should be able to find it at your local public library. If not, check the school library. If not EVEN that, well, buy it, cheapskate!
