hey, i just got a link to this site so i decided to make an accound. i like it because its still small, and since theres not many people, you can get to know everyones ideas better.

im a libertarian communism, although i see the ultimate goal as anarcho-communism, where you have no right to the fruit of your labour, instead, you have the right to satisfy all of your needs, be they physical or intellectual.
i started out with marxism and worked my way towards anarchism, which i found to be quite nice. im still learning though, and have much reading to do.

im a musician and im studying for an exam right now, so i wouldnt have much time to post here, but ill make an effort. next year ill be bussy with school and music (i play the violin). but after i finish all of that, i plan on becoming politically active.

Welcome to the forum!
It seems many people start out as a form of a Marxist and slowly transition to Anarchism -- that's what I did.
If you need anything, just ask. And again, welcome. :]

I've changed a lot, but I didn't record my changes..! I pretty much went to state socialism to non-state socialism (Anarchism / Anarcho Syndicalism).

i think you have an obsessive compulsive personality, like me, and you have a tendencie to organize every aspect of your life. i can remember a lot of that stuff too, but i gave up on it now. i go with the moment more.

yea, i've read a really good version too, with some interesting explanations. in fact, like 2/3 of the book was an explanation to the tao te ching and the culture of the time.
the thing about taoists is that they were orginally authoritarian, in fact, they apoke a lot about how the elite should be open minded and allow his people to be as free as possible. but there would still be an elite. but if these people had gotten hold of modern ideas, they would probably lean towards anarchism.
taoism is more about the development of an individual though, like buddhism.

Chuang Tzu is brilliant I recommend getting a translation of his text
He was Lao Tzu's disciple -

You read much Chinese philosophy ?

I read loads of it - Up until about two years ago it was all I was familiar with, then I started reading some western philosophy and just came across as somewhat empty - speculating on meaningless definitions and arguing over 'this' and 'that'.

I don't read that much Chinese philosophy, perhaps I should. I do know that I'm becoming increasingly interested about it. :]

i dont think anyone really knows if Lao Tzu really existed, especially since his name translates to something like "the old teacher". apparently the tao te ching is just a collection of texts.
at least this is what i have read.

kencat: its true that western philosophy is kind of empty. thats why i really only like Spinoza. anarchist philosophers are also good, but that's just because we are relying on these people for the buiding of our future world.

I don't like Confucius because he praises hierarchy and authoritarian relations .
Taoism on the other hand is pretty infallible.

I think western philosophy tries very hard to atach man made concept's to actual reality.

I have a copy if you'd like to read it. It's definitely worth looking at. Most of it sets me at ease and kinda gives me hope (however false it may be. But ignorance is bliss, eh?).

I'm sort of influenced by taoism; I'm attracted to pantheism and I practice feng shui. I also read a taoist astrology book last night. I'm a triple water boar, with my hour being fire pheonix.
