Psychological tactics used in power

I'm writing a term paper for my course on the psychological tactics used by those in power and those seeking power. I'm using Obama's faith-based tactics, McCain's fear tactics and the overall use of the said tactics by police. I was wondering if you guys had any opinions or ideas on this.
